This started up last night. The last seen feature stopped working. My settings were not changed, nor was the person I was talking to. I can only see anything when they are actually online. I can also see them typing. But as soon as they go offline, its completely blank. Meaning it doesn't show the usual last seen at such and such time.

It could be that they used the option to hide thier last seened time
Theres this option that you can use to hide your last time you were online
So that if you dont want to talk to x person you just use that option so later you can say i wasnt online at that hour sorry xD but you were there the whole time chatting with another person its like facebook has its option to turn off chat
You are there but no one can see youre there.

Exactly, this option is used to hide lsat seen. There is nothing wrong with oyur whats app, just go to setting - Account - Privacy - Last Seen - tap it and make it as everyone.
