whatsapp

sorry if the forum and sub forum is wrong. my problem is related to whatsapp. i am not a techie.
I want to delete all my whatsapp data from my phone to free up space
i dont want to uninstall, reinstall or switch phone etc. i want to continue using same whatsapp
but i just want to delete all the stored data from my phone
at the same time, i want to be able to read my whatsapp messages from my laptop, anytime afterwards.
what is the best way to transfer all the whatsapp data from mobile to laptop keeping the chats with media intact forever?

I tried deleting little data from my mobile
and i saw in web.whatsapp , even the deleted data shows up. probably because its there on google drive
but till what time is data seen in whatsapp ? eg, for a chat window if i scroll up to see earliest date i cannot even reach there because it keeps scrolling. so i am confused

is it ok to 'delete' all data from mobile phone and still have everything in whatsap web ?
