A new icon appeared on my Whatsapp page ...

Hello, I am frequently using Whatsapp, but I don'have a deep knowledge of it, so I'll be grateful to you if you let me know the reason why a new a small green icon is now appearing on the bottom right side of my Whatsapp screen. If I tap on it it makes appear on the top of the screen of it the "New Group" Icon. All I want is to get rid of it ... :)

I don't think you can get rid of it... That's the new face of WhatsApp.
It is a button designed to start a new conversation with one of your contacts or a group of them.
The small green icons on STATUS/CALLS tab have different function of course.
