What's the default format of screenshot picture for your Android device? png or jpg?
And is it possible to change the default format? If yes, how to change it?

As for my mobile phone, Android 7.0, the default format of screenshot picture is png.
I would like to change the default format to jpg, without installing any 3rd party apps, as the jpg file is smaller.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder whether png is default screenshot format of any Android devices. :(

It seems that there is no way to change default format of screenshot for my android phone without root. :(

The default format is .jpg and you cannot change the default format.
You can connect your phone to computer to get the photos and convert to .png with PS or other tool.

But the default format of screenshot for my mobile, Huawei Mate 9, is .png, other than jpg. :(

It is indeed possible, at least on a Samsung Tab A. In fact, it's a problem I'm researching right now because it has switched between png and jpg several times in the last four months.

I have tried several screenshot packages, each of which claims to work in either standard or rooted systems; the latter allowing more/better features. My system is not rooted. I did not keep track of which I tried in which order.

I take screenshots every day, and keep them. Looked at chronologically, there are several times the switch from jpg to png (and vice versa) occurs. I have to do some organizing to get the data; they're aren't stored by date.

Right now, it's in jpg mode. BTW, you may not want jpg; they take twice the storage of the pngs on this device.

Check out the ScreenMaster app. You choose the file format and quality. You also have options as to the trigger - all without rooting your device.
