Samsung Galaxy S5 — Storage Device Wiped Out ???

I'm transferring data from Google drive to Box, when doing so storage space is also being taken from the mobile device with warnings of low storage, why is this the case? With my Android phone,

Anything you do with a galaxy s 5 uses up some of your free storage. If you haven't cleared your cashed data lately i suggset you do so.
Proceedure- go to apps, settings, scroll down to storage tap on cashed data. You will be asked if you want to clear it. Tap yes!
Don't worry, you will not delete any thing important. This just deletes what you have been doing with your apps. And it's a good idea to do this on a regular basis.
