I think WhatsApp will use WLAN instead of mobile data once WLAN is available.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
The minimalist app available on Play Store: https://goo.gl/ws42fN

Thank you for your reply James, The reason i am asking this question is that i have mobile data permanently turned off and use Snapchat on my mobile via my home internet and was hoping that Whatsapp would work the same way.

Can you confirm that if i download Whatsapp it will work this way and will not try and turn on my mobile data automatically please.

Of course you can use the home Internet. If you have wi-fi, then problems should not arise. You simply connect your device to an accessible network.
