Motorola Moto G — Answer a Call Moto G5s

Good Afternoon,

For the first time ever I had an incoming call today, but was quite unable to answer it.
The phone was not at the lock screen: i.e. it was open at the desktop.

I did notice the 'Answer' tile and the caller display, but briefly and it disappeared below or was overwritten by something else almost immediately before I could get a finger to it.

This cannot be right and there must be an alternative way to answer. If so, I haven't found it. Tapping on the phone icon at the centre of the screen does nothing.

Anyone know what's happening here or can offer advice ?

Do you use a stock rom and a stock app for phone call?

 As luck would have it, it works now but didn't yesterday.

 No stock ROM or app.
