Problem with Android Pit

Question

Hey everybody and the editors too!
Lately I have been experiencing a problem with the Android Pit!!!
Quite often when I am typing a post or a reply on the forum my screen freezes, and a box pops up that says...
This screen has become unresponsive. 
Then it gives me the option to close the screen or wait!
And when I leave the screen it deletes everything I have typed!
This glitch only happens on the Android Pit, it dosen't happen on any other web site I visit.
This dosen't happens all the time, but it happens enough to be annoying!
Has anyone else experienced this?
Can anyone tell me why this might be happening?

I think I have figured out the problem!
This morning I tried to be the first to respond to a new post. And that box kept popping up in my face and stalling my keyboard function!
When I finished and submitted my post I noticed 8 other people had all ready left responses to that post.
I now am convinced that the problem I am having is due to high volume of traffic on the Android pit! 
In other words.     i'm getting bumped off by everyone else!☹
Or in other words, Mark, Bastian,
The problem is not high volume of internet traffic! 
The problem is the high volume of traffic on the Android pit!

May I ask what browser you are using? I use Microsoft edge and I do have that issue with this site, but I have it on others also. It occurs mostly in yahoo mail with me, like you said just often enough to be annoying.

Thank you for responding so quickly! 
My internet app is Samsung 5.0.30-76
search engine is Google
And the browsers I use are MSN or Google. 
For the most part I use MSN and I believe that is Microsoft. 
I don't have anything to do with Yahoo!
(I refuse to open a Yahoo account just to go on the internet! )
By the way did you know that Yahoo's accounts got hacked a couple of years ago. And some 5 billion users information is currently for sale on the dark web!

Yes I do know they were hacked but have had that email for as long as I can remember. I am very careful of what I put out through email or on the web period no social media. I have separate email accounts for shopping and communicating. Yahoo is mostly just for email family, friend and a few sites like this one. I use Outlook and Gmail for everything else.

MSN is Microsoft like the Edge browser in Windows I really think that is where the problem is. I use Firefox on my tablet and phone and do not seem to have that issue with it hanging.

I think you might be right!
I have Android Pit and my other favorites programmed into my quick access page through MSN! 
So... i'm going to try to access Android Pit  through a differert browser and see if that makes a difference. 
I'll let you know if it works!

Mark the pop up on Andriod Pit  still happens.
And I noticed that my key board lags 
Sometimes it takes a couple of seconds for the letter I type to show up.
And I noticed these problems when I respond to a android pit reply through my Gmail app!

I will bring this to Bastian attention, He may have a better insight. I am just a moderator with admin access to get rid of the spammers.   I have the same issues from time to time just not recently and only on my PC not my tablet or phone.

I clear my cashed data daily!
And that pop up only appears  on Android Pit!
However the problem with my key board lagging does happens on some other web sites.  Not all of them just some.

which keyboard app are you using? And have you tried using a different one?

I have a question. Have you noticed it happen at certain time of the day? Especially times when there is high internet traffic. That might be the cause of the lag too.

I'm using the Samsung keyboard app that came installed with in the phone.
Haven't tried any other.

The problem with that pop up has been unbelievable today! 
It's Sunday morning here - afternoon in Europe.
I have tried clearing the data on my keyboard and I tried a different  keyboard.
No difference! 
I have installed lookout anti virus app.
It detected nothing.
You might be right about the internet congestion being the problem. 
I'll try again tomorrow.

I really do think internet congestion is the most likely cause. I am in the Philippines, we lost one of the main cables linking us to Japan. During that time I had your problem daily on this site and mail like I said before. Since it has been replaced I rarely have an issue anymore. You might check with your provider to see if they have an issue.

That can be an issue. I did have your problem at one time have your problem, just not since the Cable linking us to Japan was fixed. It might be a combination of both issues too.

Been a member on Android pit since may 2017. The problem didn't crop up unroll sometime in the summer of 2018 (this year!)
Don't know when they worked on that cable to Japan! 
However I typed in this message without a problem! And I think it's because this is a old posts marked as answered so nobody is trying to respond to it.

I had the issue of delayed typing over a year ago I think the cable went out in mid 2017 and got replaced early this year. I have not had the issue since then, and I have also changed provider too. I only had low speed before now I have a fiber optic line at 20MPS never a problem since.

The keyboard problem is not the only issue!
Recently I have been typing in a message,
And the Android pit tab has crashed several times! But I can log into AP at different times of the day and there is no problem. 
This is why I think the problem is heavy traffic on Android Pit! 
There are a lot more people using Android Pit these days . And I'm suggesting that maybe thier server can't handle the volume!

Hi Lindsay,

I can assure you that this has nothing to do with the amount of traffic on our website. If that was the case, more people would face this issue and we would easily figure it out and, well, fix it.

I have to admit that I really can't tell what the issue really is, as I am not able to reproduce any of it :(

With all due respect I think your wrong.
I typed in this reply along with 3 others this morning without any problems at all.
However other days I have nothing but problems when I'm trying to reply to a post. Including keyboard malfunction and the tab crashes. What else could it be?
However if you think of anything else that might be causing this problem please let me know! 
This is becoming increasingly frustrating!

Hi Lindsay

May I ask what part of the world you are in? Keep in mind the internet has many chock points. It could be multiple reason why this is happening to you. Even throttling by your provider once you get close to you daily data usage. Have you tried other devices?

I live in the northern part of the Midwest in the US.
This Galaxy s7 is the only computer device I own!
And I have a unlimited data agreement with my carrier. And no daily limit on data. As a matter of fact these problems happen mostly in the morning before I have done anything else with my phone.
And right now it is 5pm here and I am not having any problems at all.

What is a chock point?

choke points are places where are where several cables from different areas come together to servers for various providers and go back out to other areas. Kind of like a airline hub like Atlanta is for Delta. It could be your phone also, are you using the app or your browser? The S7 is getting old

Mark I have Android Pit programmed into my quick access page through the Google browser. 
And if my device is becoming obsolete, (or old as you say). Wouldn't you think I would be having these problems on other  websites? And the same question applies to the choke points you mention.
These issues only happen on the Android pit.

Have you tried other browsers? I personally prefer Fire fox on my mobile devices, it works best for me.

Just trying suggestions that might help I do not have anymore suggestion. I will leave it to you and Bastian. I really think it is an internet issue. I think that Androidpit severs are in Germany where they are based and may be part of the reason.
