Motorola Moto G — Phantom phone calls?

I am getting a notification that should be for a text or phone call, but it is for neither of them. So, the phone rings and there is not text or call to answer or pick up.

How can I stop this weird notification?

(is there a log or something I can look at so I can kill the notifications for that app or something like that)
I am a layman user, so I have no specialized technical skills.

When you receive these fake calls look for a number in your recent calls list, then block that number!
You can do the same thing in your text (messaging) app.

In addition:
If no phone number shows up on your device when you receive these calls.
Ask yourself who has my phone number that likes to play practical jokes.
Those calls might be coming from someone you know, and they have blocked their number so you can't see it,
And they are calling you and hanging up , just as a joke!
