Hi,

Just a quick question. I know that to make whatsapp voicecall you need to have mobile signal plus internet (mobile data)...What if there is no mobile signal (no mobile data) but device is connected to Wifi. Is it still possible to make a video call on that device?

This came from curiosity when I tried to call friend a few times with voice call and it showed unavailable each time i tried to call. I tried to call thru normal phone call service and it went straight to voicemail. But video call was working fine. What's the trick here?

thanks

Yes video calls are still possible because you are connecting to someone else's WiFi signal and that call is using their data! Whatsapp works on the internet only!
In the US we refer to that as WiFi hotspot.
Unless you are illegally using someone else's WiFi signal !

If there is no mobile signal (no mobile data) and your device is connected to Wifi, I think maybe you can not register and login a whatsapp account at all. A whatsapp account is associated with a phone number.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.
