Help,
My phone Note2 Model GT N7100 will now not registar on EE network in the UK anymore.
My IMEI has some how changed from what it should be to 0049*********
What are my best and easy option to get the network working again on it.
What is this 0049*************** imei number ? Why have I got it on my phone ? And why does it not allow me to connect to my network provider ? My phone is not stolen I have had it for years and still have the proper imei number.
Is this some sort of con trick by Samsung to make buy a new phone ?
Robin

Did you rooted your phone or downgraded the firmware version?
I had a note 2 till last year, when I downgraded the firmware, the EFS file got damaged and lost the IMEI.
To fix it,Install an old modem using cwm.

Samsung and the other phone manufacturers are good at sending out updates that make older model devices malfunction. Especially just before they release a new model!
And Samsung is releasing the S10 in February!
Now I'm not saying that's what has happened to your device, but it's possible.
Can you check for any recent updates?
If you find any try to uninstall them!
And turn off your auto update setting in play store and software updates.

And if all else fails. You might consider a factory reset.

No not sure!
If it was a update that changed lmei a factory reset will restore it.
However if it was a "software update",
Not even a factory reset will remove this update.
You should determine what kind of update, (if any) caused the change first!
Or you should determine WHAT caused the change before taking action.

Hello,

I am not sure if a software update was done as the phone was with my daughter for a few days and then the IMIE changed to 0049****** Is there any way to get a history report from the phone regarding updates ?
Could I not reload the factorty software which first came with the Phone ? Would this not restore my proper IMIE ? How do I find out if the phone has been rooted ?
Thanks
Robin

You can find your most recent updates in a file called Downloads.
You can find Downloads in a app called My Files, or Storage, or in your internet settings.
But you said something in your last message that gave me a different idea!
You said your daughter was using your phone for a few days, then the problem cropped up!
Is it possible that your daughter paired that phone with another phone to maybe transfer pictures?
Check your Bluetooth app and see if it is stilled paired.
Or...
Maybe she connected it to a WiFi signal and it is still connected!
Ask your daughter if she did anything unusual like that when she was using your phone!

Oh yea!
If your phone was rooted, there will be a re-root app installed !
To find that check your apps pages, or go to settings, find your apps manager. Pull up the list of all systems apps in your phone a look for a re-root app there!

The software that was in your phone when you purchased it is still there.
There is no need to reinstall it.
Once software is installed on your hard drive there is no way to remove it that I know of.
But updates will alter the original software .
