Have lost the CAMERA icon from my phone and am completely lost on how to recover it. It is not showing in list of apps and has not linked up with any other apps.

Any advice please?

Many thanks

Has there been anything unusual happen with your phone?
For instance updates?
Did you root your device?

Need more info!

Very unusual that the icon and the app just disappeared.

Hi Lindsay
There have been no updates and I did not root the phone and I agree this "disappearance" is extremely unusual. The phone icon is showing in the list of apps but I am unable to access it so I have had to download a camera app from Google App Store.

This is a long shot because i don't know what caused the problem with your camera app!
But!
If you want your old camera app back,
The only suggestion I have is to do a factory reset.
But if you are happy with the camera app that you got from play store. Just use the phone as is!

One more thing!
Do you have a anti- virus app installed in your phone?
If so check to see if it has found anything.
A virus or malware could have caused the problem!
If you don't have one of these apps in your phone, let me suggest 2.
Lookout
Avast
They are both free, and they both run regular scans.
And you can find both in play store.

The stock app can't be deleted without rooting your phone.

Maybe you accidentally pressed the hide button.

To enable it...
From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.

Tap Settings >> Tap Applications >>Tap Application manager>> Scroll through the list of apps that display or tap MORE and select Show system apps>> If the app is hidden, 'Disabled' will be listed in the field with the app name>>Tap the desired application>>Tap ENABLE to show the app.

Try resetting the home screen launcher. For that you need to go to "settings" then click on the "apps and notifications" and after that go in the "app info". You just need to select the app which handles the launcher. Be careful as the you are searching will be different which depends on which device you are using. Check inside "storage" and then "clear data".

I use to have a s5.
Please don't think this is silly but there were a couple of times I put my phone in my pocket while the screen was still on.
When I went to use it again one of my icons on the home page was missing.
It seems that when I put the phone in my pocket I accidentally drug that icon into one of my secondary home screens!
If you haven't checked yet, swipe the top part of your home screen from right to left, and see if it is there!

That darn icon has got to be somewhere if the camera app is still in your list !

Thanks Lindsay but have already tried that without success.

I have discovered that there is a Samsung Support Centre not too far from my house so will try there in the coming week or so.

Regards
