Hi all,

My Google Pixel 2 had a nasty fall and now won't turn on. For a while after I could locate/connect to it using Google Find My Phone but now it can no longer connect to it.

I need to send this device to my insurer but would like to factory reset/erase it first. I'm fairly sure it's going be be replaced as it's beyond repair but I would like to erase my data on it just to be safe. What is the best way to do this if Find my Phone can't connect to it?

Best,

If your phone will not turn on I doubt you can erase your data. Even a reset does not erase the data it just removes the link to where it is stored. The info is still there until it has been written over.
Good luck

If it won't power on at all, then no, there is nothing you can do. If you had a passcode on it before, then the data on it is encrypted. Otherwise, if you are concerned about the data, destroy it, just as you'd destroy a hard drive with sensitive data. But you can try a data eraser tool, it may help you work it.
