HTC U11+ Autofocus issue Camera?

Hey guys, I'm not big on photography but basically whenever I place my U11+ phone camera down on the ground to film myself it's out of focus. It will either only focus on the background and blur me or focus on me and blur the ground. Sometimes it will awkwardly alternate between the two depending on what's moving. I've even tried focusing it in advance (pressing center of screen on where I'll most likely be) before recording and letting it stand but it sometimes does not work right. Anything in the camera settings I can do to fix it? Videos take up so much memory and I have expanded storage but if I can't get my phone to focus right then what's the point of keeping all of these bulky files lol
