Delete message from unknown source

I have a WhatsApp message - simply "Hello" and a +263 xxxx number, possibly from an Indian or Pakistani woman judging from the image icon.
I have tried every thing I can find to delete message and contact and none work. The number is not on my phone - only appears in WhatsApp.
It's not vital that I get rid of it but it is irritating having this unknown number with a silly message appearing every time I load WhatsApp!

This is something new.
Go through your installed apps from settings and see if there are any suspicious apps installed.
Delete the contact and refresh the Whatsapp contact list.
