Galaxy Grand 2 announced: a new Dual-SIM device with Android 4.3

The Samsung Galaxy line has just received a new family member, the Galaxy Grand 2, which provides the larger screen size that more and more people are wanting but with slightly less wow-inducing hardware that the company has been throwing at us for that last little while. At 5.25-inches, it’s slightly shy of the Galaxy Note’s 5.3-inch display but lacks the Note's S Pen.

In following their strategy of offering something for everyone, the Galaxy Grand 2 arrives more as a mid-class smartphone than as a flagship. The device will come with Android 4.3, which may seem odd with Android 4.4 KitKat already in the picture, but even many flagship smartphones are still waiting for the newest version. In comparison to another Galaxy smartphone deemed mid-class, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8, The Galaxy grand 2 has a slightly smaller screen, a better processor and lighter weight, however it comes with the same internal storage, RAM, camera and battery. Along with its large HD display for watching videos and playing games, the main perk that sets it apart is its dual SIM capability for those needing different phone numbers for their professional and private lives. It does however lack LTE support, which might dissuade certain potential buyers.

The device will come in white and black, while pink is also available but only in certain regions. It will come with the familiar Samsung ‘smart’ software and include features like Multi Window, S Translator, S Travel, Group Play as well as camera features like Best Face, Best Photo, Sound & Shot.
