Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Not Happening?

Authored by: Edwin Kee — Aug 2, 2013

Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, you might arrive at the end of the Android operating system upgrade road as we have word that the Galaxy S2 would not be on the receiving end of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update. The reason behind that? TouchWiz is allegedly not compatible with the update, which means the hardware on the Galaxy S2 is most probably too much of a clunker to handle all that Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean offers - at least on an official basis. There is still the AOKP custom ROM for you to fall back upon.

What a bummer to wind down the week with, no? It seems that the now legendary Samsung Galaxy S2 will stop at just Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, after coming all the way through from Android 2.3 Gingerbread and subsequently, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

A list was leaked out some time ago that clearly placed the Samsung Galaxy S2 under one of the beneficiaries of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, but since that is not an official list, one would just have to take that with a pinch of salt. Well, at least the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus would be on the receiving end of the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update sometime down the road.

With that, it might just be a good time for you to make that phone upgrade that you have been waiting for all this while, don’t you think so?
