Yet another bug appears on Lollipop in recent app switcher

Lollipop hasn’t turned out to be a sweet as we would have hoped with a few bugs and missing features from KitKat, some of which you can check out in our top 5 Lollipop fails. Yet another sad little bug that was noticed by users has to do with the recent app switcher.

When you have quite a large number of recent apps open and swipe them all away, if you later head back into the app switcher: what remains will be a distorted card of an app still running that you likely hadn’t been using. For some, it was the Package Installer app that was still there. The problem won’t arise if only a few apps are open, however can be an issue if you have a lot open.

There is no indication that this will make your device run slower, however. You just need to swipe the remaining app away to get rid of it. The bug is one users with Android 5.0 Lollipop will have to live with until Google releases a patch or the next update.

Have you noticed this bug? What do you think of Lollipop so far?

Yea i use to navigate thru multiple apps at a time now when i want to add a new app to my viewing i have to exit out of a app partially or completely depending on the app before update obviously there was no problem. Can i do something to fix this I've allready did a wipe cache partial?

  • App launch and keeping it open is good but it should affect the ram as not many mobile carry more than 2gb ram. So google so make sure this should not slow down performance or speed

  • maybe... it's a feature, not a bug.

O don't get it, why people are so stubborn and want clear all recent apps? According to Google, if you keep cleaning them, then system needs to start the apps again, thus cpu require more power to perform an operation and drain the battery. How hard is to understand that? Android keeps apps in memory so if you launch an app it takes less time and it doesn't use as much cpu. Simple as that.

    • I have Lollipop on my Nexus 7 (2012). When I have more than 20 cards in my RECENT APPS list, all of Lollipop grinds slower and slower. The only cure is to swipe away each app. That is why I am so "stubborn, Czacha.

  • More the sweetness(Lollipop) , More the ants around! :p ;)
