No more free Galaxy Buds with S10 pre-orders in the US

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is shaping up to be the smash hit of the season. Many have already pre-ordered the S10 and S10 Plus, and are patiently waiting for their new smartphones to arrive. Up until now, the two phones also came with a pleasant surprise in the box - a pair of free Galaxy Buds. However, it seems that the Korean company has run out of earbuds to give away.

Now, Samsung is offering a $130 eCertificate instead, which can be used to purchase select products on Samsung's official website and app. We don't currently know which products are included in the selection, but we presume you could use your certificate to purchase Galaxy S10 accessories or the Galaxy Buds themselves when they become available.

Of course, a situation like this is to be expected with the high demand for the new S10 range. The South Korean company itself stated that the free Galaxy Buds were only available "while supplies last".

If you pre-ordered the Galaxy S10e, on the other hand, don't expect an eCertificate or Galaxy Buds - this model does not come with pre-order perks.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 phones begin shipping on March 8, but some models might be slightly delayed to March 22. Have you ordered yours? Let us know in the comments.

    I pre-ordered my S10 and received an $130 eCertificate as they are out of the ear buds. I tried to use the eCertificate towards the purchase of the Galaxy watch but the eCertificate would not work. I contacted support and they kept telling with the Galaxy watch was not eligible. Only after I downloaded the Terms of the eCertificate and showed them that it clearly states all wearable were eligible did they believe me, but they were still not able to help me. Now I'm waiting on the next level of support to fix this. I really feel Samsung under estimated the demand for the S10 and then are trying to hold back on their offer in order to save some money. Shame on Samsung for pulling a bait and switch. Anyone else have the same problem using the eCertificate?

      I don't really understand the problem. Samsung never offered you a discount on the Galaxy Watch, they offered free Galaxy Buds and they are not holding back on that offer. Of course, it's sorta weird that they ran out of Buds for preorders, but they are giving you the voucher for them.

        Correct. They offered the eCertificate in lieu of the ear buds because they could not meet the demand for the ear buds. I get it, they ran out of supply. So I was happy to use the $130 towards another item, but when I tried the voucher did not work. That is where there is a problem originates. The terms of the eCertificate cleary states wearables are eligible but the support team says no. I can only purchase accessories. They are not honoring the terms of the eCertificate and I'm sure I'm not the only person they have tried to turned away. I want to let others knows to not accept this as the actual terms are different than what they are saying.

        Well, you are still trying to get something, they never really offered you. They offered you free buds, and that's still an option for you. To Samsung it doesn't matter what the eCertificate says, they gave you the voucher because the couldn't directly give you the buds, simple as that. I honestly wouldn't complain about this ...

    I know this is an older article, but I did a pre-order for a S10 regular from Best Buy. The process of getting the buds is the same for all who order from anywhere other than direct from Samsung. You go to the Shop Samsung app(which you may need to install from the Google Play Store), then you go in to claim the bonus. For mine, it immediately came up with the buds, not the credit. It may have to do with the phone itself being registered as a part of a given batch of phones, or everyone will get them based on when they claim their pre-order bonus.

    One thing is that you will need to provide proof of the pre-order via a picture. It just needs to show the pre-order date on it. Mine have a shipping of, "week of April 15th, 2019" for the approval.

    Ordered S10+ over a week ago and now says it will not ship until sometime between March 27-April 5!!! And no buds! Hopefully will get the gift card... #sadinsanantonio

    I pre-ordered on Feb 22 yet today March 2nd get a email that I will not be receiving the buds. Worst preorder experience I've ever had and the first time I've gone through Samsung. Not only will I not have the phone on the 8th but I never got the $50 accessory credit and now won't get the buds till who knows when. I'd have done better just going through bestbuy

    Even without those Galaxy Buds Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is a good value for money.
    :-) I am eagerly waiting for what Huawei with its upcoming P30 Pro and Oneplus with its Oneplus 7 brings to the table.
