December 17 marks the second anniversary of smartphone startup OnePlus. The budding young company has had an eventful entry into the market, marked by successes that far outshined the inevitable difficulties. To celebrate, OnePlus is abandoning its invite system for the OnePlus 2 forever, starting from midnight on December 5.
Two years and three phones in, OnePlus has become a force to be reckoned with. Its latest effort, the OnePlus X was lauded here at AndroidPIT for its quality and cost-effectiveness and lamented for its lack of availability. Now, OnePlus is addressing said lamentation by offering customers open access to the OnePlus X's predecessor, the OnePlus 2, in celebration of the company's second anniversary.
The news comes just in time for the holidays, with the open sale starting at midnight on December 5 and running for as long as the world keeps spinning.
The OnePlus X is also the subject of the company's jubilation – it will be available to buy without an invite on December 5-7.
To take advantage of OnePlus's festive cheer, simply head over to the OnePlus website on the day. Be sure to order before December 7 if you want to ensure it's delivered in time for Christmas.
