Images of Oppo's new bezel-less phone leak, and it looks beautiful

Leaked images for what is believed to be the bezel-less Oppo R7 have appeared online. Featuring a 5.5-inch display, and knock-out looks, could this be Chinese manufacturer Oppo's mainstream hit? Find out what we know about the Oppo R7 below.

Photos of the new Oppo smartphone were released via mydrivers.com, along with a new video showing it off. Oppo has been working on technology which would realize a bezel-less design since last year, but is yet to implement it into a handset. This latest video reveals the technology behind it.

The R7 is not truly bezel-less, but the display creates the effect by bending the light at the edges of the screen. This provides an edge-to-edge effect, while ensuring problems with durability and accidental "palm-tapping" on the screen are not present.

You can check out how the phone looks in the video below:

As for the Oppo R7 specs, we don't know, but rumors suggest a 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 SoC with octa-core CPU, 20.7 MP rear camera, and 4G LTE.

Here at AndroidPIT we're big fans of the bezel-less design, giving the Sharp Aquos Crystal five-stars in our Sharp Aquos Crystal review, praising its display design. What the Aquos Crystal lacked in looks and premium-materials, however, Oppo's new baby could make up for.

We'll have more for you on Oppo R7 new device as we get it. What's your thoughts on it so far?

  • Well, I want a real bezel-less display, on all sides. Or at least they should make top and bottom much smaller. Otherwise good job on the display. I wouldn't buy it though as I think S6 Edge has it better (as in around-body display looks better than this).
