Oppo R9 price and release date
On March 17, 2016, in Beijing, Oppo introduced the world to its new smartphone: the Oppo R9 – named the F1 Plus for the international market.
For now, Oppo has announced that the R9 will be called the F1 Plus outside of China, and it will be available on Amazon UK, Amazon Germany and Amazon France come May, with a more exact date to be announced soon.
The price is set at 299 GBP and 389 EUR.
We are still waiting to hear on whether or not the device will see a wide release in the US.
Oppo R9 design
The Oppo R9’s design is heavily informed by its predecessors, the Oppo R7 and Oppo R7s. It has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 4, and a metal unibody design. At 6.6 millimeters, it is slightly thinner than the Oppo R7s, which is 6.95 millimeters thick.
Since the bezel between the display and the frame is a measly 1.66 millimeters, Oppo claims that the R9 could easily be mistaken for a 4.2-inch device.
The device will be available in gold and rose gold variants.
Oppo R9 specs
The Oppo R9 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio P10 processor (eight cores, 64 bit), 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. This memory can be expanded up to 128 GB with a microSD card.
The battery provides a small surprise because the Oppo R9 packs only 2,850 mAh. This is surprising because the Oppo R7 was equipped with a 3,070 mAh battery. According to Oppo, the R9 will last around 14 hours off a single charge, and a half-hour charge will see 70 percent of the battery restored.
The Oppo R9 is the first Oppo smartphone to feature a fingerprint scanner. This is said to recognize a fingerprint within 0.2 seconds and work even when the surface is wet.
The Oppo R9’s rear camera is equipped with a 16 MP sensor and an f / 2.0 aperture. Due to the increased MP count and technical improvements made to the camera, the Oppo R9 is said by Oppo to produce clearer, sharper photos than the Oppo R7s.
The front-facing camera is an 8 MP, f / 2.4 aperture snapper.
The Oppo R9 features WiFi-ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE connectivity. Whether the Oppo R9 comes running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, Oppo neglected to mention.
Oppo R9 Plus first details
Oppo also provided the first details for the R9 Plus. This premium version of the device differs in its battery size (4,120 mA), processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 652) and screen size (6-inch) from the Oppo R9.
