Poll: Will the iPhone 8 be better than the Galaxy S8?

The latest Samsung flagship was just made available in April, but we've spent enough time with it to try out all of its features and do a full review of the device. The Galaxy S8 is a winning smartphone in almost every way, so the iPhone 8 will have to make substantial improvements over its predecessor in order to outdo it. Do you think it's up to the task?

I have some great ideas for topics that AndroidPIT could write about.
What do you think?

In his comparison of the iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8, AndroidPIT Spain editor Luis Ortega concluded that even after setting his bias in favor of Android aside, the current top Apple smartphone just couldn't stand up to the brand new Samsung flagship. They're both excellent devices, but the S8's modern, eye-catching design leaves the iPhone 7 in the dust. For the next iPhone to compete, it will have to step up its game in this respect, and offer a performance that's just as fluid and battery life that's at least as long.

The latest rumors point to the next iPhone having a more powerful processor and smaller bezels this time around, in addition to ditching the home button. Apple may also be adding a vertical dual camera and a 3D facial recognition camera from LG. If it manages to achieve better battery life than the S8, or even just better placement of the fingerprint scanner, that would be a notable victory for the iPhone 8. We won't know its specs with any degree of certainty until the device is presented in September, though.

While such a choice depends heavily on which brand and OS you prefer, we would like to know what you think:

The new IP8 schematcis and tenders prove one thing. It is plain ugly a repulsive camera bump the size of camel's hump :). All of Apple's iphones had some style but this one looks horrible. Why not to put this camera in the centre to make it look a bit more logical. Pity as I was hoping for something more refined. Let's be honest Samsung or HTC, Sony look far better.

  • Not so I came frm Apple to android and I have not looked back cause Apple seems to trying to catch up when android had tht been used tht and moving on to add more !

The point is moot. No matter how good the iPhone 8 is it won't matter because I would never change platform ecosystems. Maybe if an iPhone enabled site-to-site teleportation, anti-gravity or time travel I'd at least consider it. Not 'til then.

  • Not going to buy either, I'm opting for the better XZ premium.

Well, we do know that the a11 soc will have the best single core performance(it always does), but multi-core will be hard to beat from it. Of course the only way to really judge real performance, even though this will never happen, is to load both os's on each phone, then judge. Aside from that, it will come down to how the iphone's built. Both os's have their core features, but android's ahead of useful ones now, that's why androids counterpart apps on ios do better, than ios's native apps.

Of course it will. It always is.

It will probably be "faster" at opening apps and such than Samzung. But better? Where it's not defined? For my purposes Android is better than anything with iOS.

  • I JUMPED SHIP FROM THE IPHONE TO ANDROID. WHEN I BOUGHT AN IPHONE, I DID IT BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE "IN" THING TO DO AT THE TIME. I'M NOT A FOLLOWER ANYMORE. I 💚 ANDROID AND I DON'T CARE WHAT APPLE OFFERS BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS LIMITED AND CONTROLLED. I ALWAYS WANTED MORE. I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT WITH ANDROID.
