Poll results: We should limit childrens' time on smartphones

As you've probably noticed, attention has been drawn to the potential dangers of allowing children to use too much tech at such a young age. With smartphones being such an essential part of our lives, it can be difficult to know how to control it. In our poll we asked you whether kids' use of tech should be restricted.

The answer, as expected, was yes or depending on their age. Parents are increasingly worried about whether spending so much time on phones is safe, considering the health implications highlighted in the media.

One thing that's center of attention in all of this is social media, particularly applications such as Facebook, which is designed to keep us hooked. Most are aware of its addictiveness, whereas children may not understand: with the health warnings from experts, and tech bosses are limiting their kids' time on smartphones (which is quite concerning), then it's important to take action.

It could sound like the start of a parent-child fight, but it might not be so difficult to educate young people and children on the harms of technology.

What do you think of the results? Have you limited your kids (or your own) time on smartphones?

if you have to ask this question, you should not be a parent.

  • Phone, to some parents, I think have become their "babysitter". I see it in doctors offices, restaurants, grocery stores etc. I wouldn't let a kid under 12 alone with a phone for anything.

  • Most parents now do not seem to realise the damage too much light in the childrens eyes is not good for them, but to calm there children down they just pass on there mobiles to there kids,so they can play or watch games and videos on there phones, phones screens are getting bigger every year now and brighter as well,so to much light can not be good for a child, but parents are putting more pressure on themselves by letting children use there phones early, and there child will cry more now to use the phone and then the parent ends up buying a phone for the child too early, even my best friend spent £1,000 for the iPhone X for is 12 year old soon as a christmas present, that really shock me,but there are loads of children with phones but i bet half of them do not know the true value of the phone they have and there parents might have broken there budget just to please there children
