3 reasons to buy the OnePlus 3T: why it's a good choice

The OnePlus 3T has been on the market since November 28 last year, selling at a slightly higher price ($439) than its predecessor, the OnePlus 3 ($399 at release). As the price has increased, it must be noted that the smartphone has also changed, and the disappearance of the OnePlus 3 only motivates potential clients to opt for the second version of the OnePlus 3. Here's what I think this OnePlus smartphone has to offer.

Before presenting my arguments, I would like to point something out. The following list is not exhaustive. There are many reasons to buy a OnePlus 3T outside of the three listed below. I have simply included the reasons that seemed the most important to me.

1. Great value for money

The OnePlus 3T’s design isn’t really that different from its predecessor, however, on the inside of the device, a lot of changes were made. We have a newer processor: the Snapdragon 821, which is 10 percent more powerful than the Snapdragon 820 featured in the OnePlus 3. The Adreno 630 graphics chip has also been improved, up to 5 percent if you believe Qualcomm. The internal storage starts at 64 GB.

You can play any game without running into any problems and multitasking runs smoothly as well. As for benchmarks, the OnePlus 3T is much more powerful than the OnePlus 3, which was already good in this area. Since we’re talking about speed, I also should mention that the performance of the fingerprint reader has proved to be extremely fast. All of this for $439? I'd say that it’s a good deal!

2. A good software interface

At first we thought that Oxygen OS 3.5.3 (based on Android Marshmallow), the newest interface used on the OP3T, was aimed at stock Android fans and that the manufacturer would stick with the look and feel of Google's pure Android look. However, we were proved wrong. Though it has a similar look to stock Android, OnePlus gives the user the possibility to modify the interface’s colors, so if you find stock Android to be too drab, you can brighten up the look of your menus without a problem.

Even better, you will be able to find some elements of Android Nougat, such as the notifications bar or even night mode, which can already be seen on the Honor 8. Another advantage of this software: any applications other than Google applications are not pre-installed. Plus, the cherry on top: Android Nougat should be available for the OnePlus 3T before the end of this year.

The lack of pre-installed apps on a smartphone is definitely a reason to buy it

3. Good battery life and extremely fast re-charging time

The battery holds 3,400 mAh, meaning that it is inferior to the Galaxy S7 Edge’s battery (with the same screen size) but superior to its predecessor, the OnePlus 3. The OnePlus 3T perhaps doesn't hold the ultimate benchmark for battery life, but it does a stand-up job, so most users will be pleased.

Though the OnePlus 3T doesn’t really wow us with its battery life, it sure makes a good show with its DASH fast re-charging facility. I charged the device from 9 to 100 percent in 75 minutes, which is quite good if you consider the battery capacity. OnePlus had announced that the device can last a full day with just 30 minutes of charging. This won’t be the case for an intensive user, but it is possible for a more “traditional” one.

Are you thinking of buying this smartphone? If not, which would you buy instead?

and here are 3 reasons not to buy...

    1. awful support
    2. Oxygen OS still has a long way to go. It's better, but still riddled with some annoying bugs (led rainbow, gps reboots)
    3. questionable long term (more than 1 year?) updates (just ask op2 and opx users)

  • The OnePlus 3T has been on the market since November 28 last year ?? Wow, I'm so late to buy it

"The OnePlus 3T has been on the market since November 28 last year"
    are we already in 2017?

  • basicly everyone who buys another smartphone doesnt care about performance/$

  • So, u buying the 3+ now when the 1+4 is just around the corner. R u upgrading again ??? Even the 3+ seem's a good idea, u should ask ur self why none of the other manufactures r going the way of half life upgrade. I think one+ is just elimenating the weak point's of the product..

I'm waiting for a reason to update from my one plus one.

  • I still prefer my phone to the OnePlus 3T. I am really happy with the quality of the 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display on my Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe.

I really want a oneplus 3T, but it is said that it has a low quality screen. Is that true?
