Sony Xperia C3: the smartphone for serial selfies

Sony revealed the Xperia C3 today, a smartphone with a 5.5-inch display that is being advertised as a selfie smartphone – it comes with a 5-megapixel front camera with wide angle lens and LED flash.

Yesterday we reported that Sony had apparently wanted to launch a dedicated selfie smartphone that would allow users to take much more high quality photos of themselves. Today, it was officially introduced as a “PROselfie smartphone” by the manufacturer with a front camera equipped wqith a wide angle lens and a “soft” LED flash.  As well, a number of special retouching filters and software features will be built into the camera software to help beautify self-portraits. Sony has also provided a few tips and tricks to inform consumers on how they too can achieve the best selfie possible.

The display of the Xperia C3 measures in at 5.5-inches and has a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Inside the device, you’ll find a Quad core Snapdragon chipset running at 1.2 GHz and an Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM.  Internal memory is fixed at 8 GB, but that can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card.

The Xperia C3 will be available in a multitude of colors including white, black and mint. No details have been released in regards to a price or launch date yet.
