Timely premium features are now free as Bitspin is bought by Google

You may have heard that the developers at Bitspin, the studio behind the awesome clock and alarm app Timely, has been bought by Google. Timely stuck out amongst the thousands of alarm clock apps for its slick design, beautiful interface and clever synchronization across devices via the cloud. So much so that Google took notice and promptly bought the development studio. To celebrate the acquisition, the premium features of Timely Alarm Clock are now free to install via the Google Play Store.

The premium features, which previously had to be unlocked via in-app purchase, include new sounds, additional themes and some challenges. The positive side is that you can now enjoy all that timely had to offer for free, and without ads, while the devs get used to their new surroundings at Google. One can only imagine that their design prowess will be put into place in the next iteration of the default Android clock.

As the Bitspin team announced on their website, the existing Timely app will continue to work as it always has, although it stands to reason the updates will few and never between as the team now devotes their time to making Google look better. It's a nice story for a team of talented designers and developers who have demonstrated how a well designed app can capture the attention of Google itself.
