My favorite Android 5.0 Lollipop feature just got even better. Remember back at Google I/O when we were told that Lollipop would let you unlock via personal unlocking (smartwatches, fitness bands etc) as well as through location-based triggers? Well, that day is here. I've enabled it on my Nexus 5 and Nexus 9, but other Lollipop devices will support it too.

The latest Google Play Services update seems to be the cause of the additional security option. So if you haven't already checked out our collection of all the latest Google apps (including Google Play Services v6.5.85), then do so and grab that APK. Once you've installed the update (which will arrive over-the-air from Google eventually), reboot your device to have the extra Smart Lock feature enabled. It may not show up immediately, but it will appear eventually if you're not a fan of installing an APK of that magnitude.
Go to Settings > Security and set up a lock screen method. Once you've done this the Smart Lock entry will be available and you will see three options: Trusted Devices, Trusted Faces and Trusted Places. Tapping Trusted Places will bring up a detailed section for your Google account where you can set home or work as a safe location via Google Maps or set a custom location of your choosing.
Would you trust a particular location to bypass your lock screen security? How do you lock your phone?
