I deleted a contact from my iPhone contact list and them changed my sim and got a new number. But this person has still contacted me on WhatsApp - how?

Did you set up WhatsApp afterwards from scratch, did you change the number in WhatsApp or nothing at all? If you simply switch the SIM card and do not change anything in WhatsApp, your account is still connected to the old number and keeps working. The number is only checked when setting up WhatsApp. Therefore nothing changes for your contact, he's still able to contact you as long as you don't block him in WhatsApp.
