Not Receiving a Notification When Notifications Are Enabled

Today I sent a text message with a photo to an individual as an addition to an existing chat. An hour later that individual replied. However, I received dot on the WA icon and I did not receive any other notification that the person replied. Then I verified that all of my WA notifications are enabled except for "Group notifications". I'm using WA version 2.23.23.78.

Is there someplace else I can check (I used to get the notification dot but don't anymore)?

Original sentence:

Replacement sentence:
However, I -did not receive a dot- on the WA icon and I did not receive any other notification that the person replied.

I don't know if the Read Receipts option was enabled on the receiver's WhatsApp. Guess I'll have to wait until I get another message.

I now have the same problem on a different cellphone. No notification when a new WA message is received. Any ideas?

Here is another way to explain my problem:

I never get a notification when I receive a new WA chat. I open WA and I see "Archives" but nothing else. If I tap on "Archives", then I see the new chat.

I want to see a notification that a new chat has arrived.

How can I do that?

Everything is working normally now. I can't remember what I did to get it that way though. I'm thinking that it has something to do with Archiving but I'm not sure. Still working on that...
