Honor V8 is official: a P9 Plus at half the price?

Honor, a Huawei subsidiary, has just launched a new device similar to one of Huawei's latest flagships, but at half the price. The Honor V8, available for purchase in China from May 17, features a similar design, dual rear-camera setup, and internal specifications as the Huawei P9 Plus.

The Honor V8 price starts from around $350 for the 32 GB version (with a 1080p display) and $430 for the 64 GB variant. Meanwhile, the P9 Plus costs the equivalent of around $850 for the 64 GB variant. 

Further specs include:

  • Octa-core Kirin 950 processor 
  • 12 MP dual rear cameras with laser autofocus
  • 8 MP front-facing camera
  • Fingerprint recognition
  • Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB-C port
  • MicroSD card support
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 64 GB internal storage space

  • I'd definitely go for the QHD version instead of the P9 especially if the camera is the same... it seems like a better device minus the Leica badge.
    I respect Huawei choice to use a HD screen in their flagship but I'd rather a QHD screen and sacrifice battery life....
