cant accsess my settings please help!!

for the past 3 days every time I try to go into my phones settings it fore closes.i have.downloaded loads of apps that say they help stop force close issue but none of them have helped I still cant get into my settings.i cant reset my phone either as you do it in your setting,i have also tried reseting it the other way I read by holding 2 end buttons down then press the power button but that didnt work either,please help if you can ive spent days trying do it totaly stresses now !!

Which phone do you have? Have you tried restarting your phone? I mean turn it off completely and then turn it back on (usually hold the red or end call button for a few seconds to turn it off)?

sonyericsson xperia 8,i tried everything I updated in the end on pc from 1.6 to 2.1 & that realy fixed the problem.thanx for your post ,
