Profile photo turning blurry when small

Hi,
Whenever I upload a new profile picture, it looks fine when I enlarge it but when it shrinks down to the little bubble you see on your contact list it becomes blurry and pixelated and I look weird.
I see other people's profile pictures and they look very sharp and high res even when that small.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I upload it at a specific size? File type? Any trick?

I suggest you try a small size photo next time.

I have the exact same issue. I tried different sized photos and different photos as well (all in .jpg tho) but the shrinked profile picture looks very pixelated and not sharp at all. However, the profile picture looks good in my profile section and when I enlarge it. My friends see the same as I do. Also, all of my contacts' small profile pictures are showing in a good quality.

Any tips how to fix this?
