Storage and Micros SD problem

I tried to install an app but then it said my phone ran out of storage. So I bought 256GB MicroSD and inserted it into my phone. But still when I try to install the app it says my phone ran out of storage. It seems my phone can't detect the MicroSD? How to solve this issue?

first thing would be uninstall the apps you do not use and are clogging your drive. then try this:
How to Mount Your SD Card on the Droid
Insert the microSD card into your Android phone's SD slot until you hear it click into place.
Tap the "Settings" icon on the phone's home screen.
Select "SD and Phone Storage" from the menu.
Tap "Reformat" to format the microSD card for mounting. Tap "Mount" when the reformatting process has completed.
