5 reasons you should buy the Galaxy S6 Edge

The Galaxy S6 Edge was a real return to form for Samsung. The device is certainly distinctive, a quality that's proving harder and harder to acheive in the increasingly crowded smartphone market and it boasts impressive specs to boot. But what makes it worth buying? We've got it worked out. Here are the five best reasons to buy a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

1.It's got style

Allow us a little subjectivity to begin. This is a really beautiful phone. Whatever the practical advantages of the curved edges may be, they really lend the Galaxy S6 Edge an allure that is increasingly unusual in a marketplace dominated by identikit devices.

As well as the eponymous Edges, the attention to detail on the metal and glass finishings make you almost reluctant to touch the screen, in case you ruin the sleek styling with a grubby fingerprint.

The design of the phone represents a big step forward for the Korean manufacturer, which has paid real attention to detail for the first time in a while. Even the colored material that forms the outer layer looks spectacular. If you think it looks good in photos, you really should see it in real life.

2. It's got stamina

Smartphones have, in general, progressed at a rapid rate, with each new model seeming to bring a new innovation. But these new features have typically come at the expense of the battery, much to the annoyance of users and the delight of portable charger manufacturers.

But the Galaxy S6 Edge has seen Samsung make real progress in returning battery life to the stage it was a few years ago. The phone can now last a full day relatively easily, which is something the previous models couldn't do. It's comparable to the iPhone 6, which has drawn great praise for its battery life.

On top of this, Samsung's Quick Charge 2.0 technology means you can go from 10 percent battery to 50 percent in less than half an hour, which is great news when you're in a rush. Wireless charging is now also a reality, another leap forward.

3. It's got unique features

Those Edges aren't just visually appealing, they also allow the Galaxy S6 Edge to show off some interesting and unique features. Possibly the best known of these is the personalized color notifications which you can customize, linking each color to a contact in your phone.

But there are several other features that shouldn't be ignored. As well as allowing you to receive notifications while your phone is face down on a table, the Edges show the time. This can be particularly useful at night when you want to know exactly how long it is until you have to be up for work, without activating the phone fully.

There's also the much improved fingerprint unlocking system and the ability to turn your phone in to a remote control for your TV or entertainment system.

4. It has amazing visuals

The visual experience of the Galaxy S6 Edge is arguably its biggest strength. Firstly, its display is exceptional, with the curved 5.1 inch screen offering QHD 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution at 577 ppi, making for an incredibly sharp viewing experience. Samsung's investment in AMOLED technology has really paid off here.

This means the S6 Edge is great for viewing the exceptional pictures that the 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera enable you to take. Both cameras are among the best on the market and compare favorably to the iPhone 6. The Samsung is also able to shoot great videos, even in environments with poor light or a lot of background noise.

5. It's distinct

This one is slightly less tangible than some of the other reasons for buying the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge but the phone really gives you the feeling that you're a little ahead of the game.

The curved screen, the edge notifications and the crystal-clear display are all features that could easily become staples of future smartphones across all the manufacturers and there is a lot to be said for becoming an early adopter. And, let's face it, the admiring glances you get when you put it down on the table won't hurt either.

Are you convinced? Is the Galaxy S6 Edge the best phone on the market? Let us know in the comments.

Four reasons I won't buy the S6. 1) No removable battery. 2) No micro SD support. 3) All glass easy to damage and slippery. 4) Not water resistant. It is a pretty phone. I don't buy a phone for what it looks like. I buy a phone that will last and has the functionality I need.

If the screen was bigger I would.

  • Looks alright from the front but then you've got the God awful camera sticking out of the back, screens alright but you only need 319 ppi for the human eye, fast charge is alright because you'll need it with this phone because it will not get through a whole day with moderate use, as for the edges complete and utter waste of time you got a clock calender which you need 20 20 vision to read and the other gimmick of telling whose ringing you by the colour flashing is stupid and irrelevant, just far to expensive for what you get

  • yepppp it is
