Samsung’s smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, unfortunately didn’t have as much success as the manufacturer would have hoped, especially with the alarming return rates all across the board. Now Gear is on for sale for 150 USD at Best Buy today only.
The deal at Best Buy sees the price of the Samsung Galaxy Gear drop down a whole 50% from the original 299 USD. For this price, you can get rose gold, oatmeal beige, lime green and wild orange. The mocha grey and jet black versions cost 250 USD.
There were quite a few complaints in the beginning due to the smartwatch’s lack in software functionality, resulting in low sales after the launch. Samsung quickly tried to amend the situation with a few software updates. Now you can use the Galaxy Gear with most Samsung smartphones running Android 4.3 and later, including the Galaxy S4, S4 mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, Galaxy S3, Note 2 and Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.8, along with the Note 3, Note 10.1 2014, Note Pro 12.2 and Tab Pro series. With a special hack, you can also pair Gear with the Nexus 5, Sony Xperia Z Utra and HTC One Google Play Edition.
This could make for a nice last-minute Valentine’s Day present for that special tech-loving someone. You could also wait for the alleged Galaxy Gear 2 to come out with the Galaxy S5 on February 24th, which is reported to be much thinner. Though I'm sure the price will reflect this as well.
Are you thinking of getting a Galaxy Gear while the sale lasts?
