Manipulating Bluetooth input

Greetings,

First post, so be gentle ;)

I wish to use Bluetooth input (such as from a headset) to perform
certain operations in the OS, which are different than the default set
operations (e.g. changing the volume by pressing the "volume changing"
buttons on a headset).
For example, I want to determine that pressing a "volume changing"
button on my BT headset will prompt a scrolling (up or down) operation
in the OS (instead of changing the volume).

I was not able to find any relevant information and was wondering if
you can get me started and/or direct me to where I can read more about
this.

First, thank you.

Indeed, I also searched the web for a solution but could not find one. It's a shame since not only is this missing, I'm also just a beginner regarding the operating system. All I could find were scripts about BT pairing, but not anything to utilize BT input for commands.

Maybe someone else has an idea?
