What do you mean benifits? Are you looking for a developer? Because if so there are alot of people in the developers forum who would be willing to help you if you're in the market for a good code money.
Or are you thinking of working with their apps? I don't have any experience with apps they have produced but id take a look at their raitings in the market and judge from there.

I am not looking for a developers right now but would like to know the advantages of developing an application with Android OS rather than other OS available in the today's market.

Well yeah that and it's open soruce so its easier to get invovled and direct supprot from the developers community and you don't have a central company ::cough, apple, cough:: dictating how you sell you apps and how much you have to give them in profits (well not as much anyway) Also like Markus said you have at least in the states Andys outselling iPhones 3 to 1 in the last 3 months.
