Do I need a Mac to develop Android Apps

I am using a book "The Web Designers Guide ti iOS Apps" by Kristofer Layon.

On page 16 he says that I need to buy a Mac Computer to develop Android Apps. Is this true?

To develop Android app you can use any platform - Linux, Windows, Mac OS

But you have TO HAVE a Mac to develop iOS app (iPhone, iPad, iPod)

Yes, True. You should buy Mac, there isn't any option. The reason why the programming tools used for Android apps development are mostly compatible to Mac.

AFAIK the tools are compatible with Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.
