Hello
I'm wanting to buy this year, on black friday, a new smartphone. I'm looking for excellent performance, no lag, good camera and a good battery. Here are my choices, in decreasing price order.

Nexus 5
Sony Xperia Z1
Sony Xperia Z1 compact
HTC Desire 820
Galaxy S4
LG G2
Galaxy Note 3 Neo

What would you choose ?

I've had a galaxy s4 for probably 8 months now, best phone i ever had. Oh sure, as with any phone there are glitches and lags, but with the right apps, you can keep everything running smooth. Best of Luck, in your search!

I have the nexus so I may be a little biased towards it, but for me it's the best choice. It's a year and a half since being introduced yet it still feels quicker than any other phone on the market (I tried a few around December/January). The main thing for me is that while the other phones have their strong points (G2 screen and battery, HTC build quality and speakers, Sony aesthetics and waterproofing) these models will stop getting updates soon, and you may be stuck with an earlier version of android.

I would go for Sony Xperia Z1. It can be upgraded to Android Lollipop and having good battery life.

Although all options you have put are among best but c, Samsung is today's market leader and will remain in coming years. You should simply go for Samsung Galaxy S4. You will enjoy it the most.

Why should I go with the company that's the market leader ? As long as others give support and OS Upgrades I don't see any benefits.

The S5 is a little too expensive for me.

If you though that S5 is too expensive for you then you should choose another one.
