Is there an app that will let me simulate a touch event?

There is a small bar around half an inch wide down the left hand side of my screen that doesn't respond to touch. It's marginally annoying because I can't push the d or r keys on my keyboard and some apps that require me to use that area I can no longer use.
Are there any apps that I can install that will let me fire a touch event at the dead location on my screen? Anything like a manual cursor that I can move into the area and 'click' would be perfect but I can't seem to find anything.
I basically just want it to last for another couple of months until the 1+2 comes out.

Search xda for the LMT launcher (for rooted phones), it's an evolution of the old PA pie launcher. It has 'pie pointer', an extension from the side to point to areas outwith your reach.
