Motorola Moto G — Moto G4 Play Verizon same as unlocked Moto G4 Play?

I have been told that there are differences with the two Motorola models mentioned in the title. Perhaps the Verizon model is limited in some way...(Other than of course limited to the Verizon network)
Does anyone have experience with these phones and can comment? Thanks
