How to add some new friend as my WhatsApp contact

Hi,

When we want to add some new friend as my WhatsApp contact, what id should we ask him/her for?
Just his/her phone number, or something like a WhatsApp id?

Hi!

To add a contact and that you can see it in WhatsApp to that contact you are adding must have WhatsApp installed on your device and just save your phone number and you would have registered as a WhatsApp contact.
