Seen But Not Reaf

Hi

Can anyone tell me what the difference between a WhatsApp message having two blue ticks and saying "seen" beside it to the same message later having been "read"?

Ha-ha, I think I know the "read" part, just not the difference with "seen".

I've never seen that before. on my phone it says delivered (two gray checks) or read (blue ones) last seen on the top of the screen tells you what time the person last opened WhatsApp.
