My phone keeps showing the message "no photos selected on the screen." It does this even when the phone is turned off and charging or when i boot into download mode. How do I fix this?

Perhaps you have to do a factory reset after a full backup of your data.

Download size < 0.15 MB. But also accurate enough, ad-free & free.

I tried this and it did not work. I also downgraded nougat and flashed marshmallow on the s7 edge, but it still shows the "no pictures selected" in the middle of the screen. Any idea what I should do next? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you update your framework? if not, You may follow it. I get an answer from a comment "With my Galaxy S7 you have to go into settings>display>screensaver and you should see a few options. I choose photos then clicked on the gear icon beside the photos (settings) and choose camera." I hope it may help you.

In the stock recovery screen, try to select 'Wipe Cache Partition' after 'Wipe Data/Factory Reset'. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think it had something to do more with the screen rather than the system. I already called my carrier and they told me they will replace the phone with warranty.

It's good they replacing it.
But you should try a hard reset, during the process also clean cache, maybe this will work.
