Quiz: How smart is your home?

Home automation is rapidly filling up gaps we didn't realize were there in our living rooms and daily lives. From smart light bulbs to voice assistants, the term "smart home" is being thrown about more and more in general conversation as people talk about the latest gadget they've purchased for their living room... What we'd like to know is where you stand on the topic: Do you belong to the group of so-called "early adopters" or are you more of a hesitant skeptic?

We are spoiled for choice when it comes to home automation devices and gadgets. You can choose between smart light bulbs, security cameras for your front door or smart assistants like Amazon Alexa.

Since this is a hot topic here and AndroidPIT HQ, we thought we'd ask you as our readers how important home automation is to you - and if it's not very important, then why not?

Admittedly, I'm a total beginner when it comes to smart home: I have an indoor surveillance camera and some IKEA smart bulbs. I'm thinking of kitting out my house a bit more now, and I think my next gadget will be a Roomba vacuum cleaner and a precision cooking device. If money wasn't an issue, I'd definitely go for the Samsung Family Hub too.

So now we're asking you, how smart is your home? Are you fully kitted out or not even started?

Don't forget to leave us your comments below - what do you think about smart home in general? Do you think it's safe?

  • Smart home is my dream!)

  • I would like a lot to have a smart home. I think anything in this direction would make our life easier, and we wouldn't waste time on simple things.

  • I better start making mine smart too. Because by these standards, mine is quite dull!

  • I have a Philips Hue Bridge to connect my Living Colors (gen2) to my Harmony Elite, and I got a Roomba cleaning my living room every 3 days. I got a raspberry pii ready to start doing smart things, but so far.... I only control my lights. Next buy will be a Google Home as soon as they make it available in The Netherlands. And I very much would like a system with an engine to automate my rolling curtain (plisse top-down and bottom-up), but it does not seem possible in the way I want it (3 plisse at the same time going up or down)

  • The link for the smart home quiz doesn't work on both IE and Chrome browsers. I also tweeted you.

    "do you think it's safe"?
what like better security.. that will be a no..
like my privacy? is that "safe" in a smarthome err no..
any improvements in safety and security is simply a "smart" illusion..
especially in my country, in which the government can access just about anything "smart" and if the government can then so can others..
besides I'm too busy with my life and far too random to benefit from using technology to manage the contents of my fridge..

The quiz says "You need permission".

  • I wouldn't mind having a home that is smart enough to have dinner ready when I come home :)

Personally I want my home as dumb as possible. I do have IP cameras but that is it. I do not want any of the smart tech because there are just to many privacy issue with it.
