Looking to buy your Galaxy S4 off-contract? Expect to pay more than $600. According to Samsung's official "Cut to the Front of the Line" sweepstakes, the Galaxy S4's suggested retail price is $650.
This conflicts with earlier rumors that the Galaxy S4 would cost $579, which is what Samsung originally listed in the sweepstakes. The company upped the price shortly before the contest began.
Of course, those wanting a better deal can buy the phone on-contract for a significantly less amount of cash. Typically, flagship models are available on two-year contacts for $199 or less. That's the price you're likely to see on Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T.
The new off-contract price is the same as the iPhone 5. Both phones cost $650 if you decide to go without a carrier. Although if you buy a Galaxy S4, you'll be getting a far better display, processor, camera and range of innovative features. I wonder if Apple will drop the price of the iPhone 5 to compete with the Galaxy S4 in the next few weeks...
US pricing hasn't been announced for the HTC One, but it is expected to go on sale for 640 euros in Germany (or $830). The international unlocked version of the Galaxy S3, meanwhile, has dropped to $472 on Amazon.com.
