Hardware, hardware, and more hardware has been the majority of announcements from IFA so far. However, some software related information released by Samsung is going to be a pretty big deal for Galaxy S3 and S4 owners. Both devices will be receiving official Android 4.3 updates in October.
While the announcement of Android 4.3 is old news, it’s nice to see that it will start getting rolled out to the S3 and S4 sooner rather than later. No information was presented as to whether the Galaxy Note 2 will be receiving the update to the latest OS version at the same time. Of course, if you’re the impatient type and have rooted your device, there are options available to you right now to upgrade to Android 4.3
Away from the IFA and in other Android OS news, Android 4.4 was teased yesterday and has been dubbed KitKat. That pushes the letter-naming scheme down one more peg and looks like Key Lime Pie will not be used for Android 5.0.
