HTC One (M7) owners might be able to rejoice: the Android 5.0 Lollipop update may not be the last major update for the original One. After recently stating that the One (M7) would not receive Android 5.1, HTC VP of Product Management, Mo Versi, tweeted to say that HTC was revisiting the idea for carrier versions of the HTC One (M7). While this is far from a promised update, it's better than being left out to dry. Find out all of the latest HTC One (M7) Android update news below.

HTC One (M7) Android 5.1 update

Mo Versi, HTC's VP of Product Management tweeted in mid-March to say that the HTC One (M7) would not be making the update to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Only the One (M7) Google Play edition would make the jump.

Not surprisingly, this had repercussions and a show of support from loyal M7 fans that has now seemingly caused HTC to revisit the idea of updating carrier-branded One M7 handsets to Android 5.1 after all, with Versi posting the following tweet:

T-Mobile HTC One (M7) Android update

The T-Mobile HTC One (M7) Android 5.0 Lollipop update began on March 10.  HTC Vice President of Product Management, Mo Versi, shared the good news on Twitter. We'll bring you more on the T-Mobile HTC One (M7) update as soon as it starts hitting devices.

Sprint HTC One (M7) Android update

Lucky recipients of the Sprint HTC One (M7) Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update (from February 5) enjoyed the update for more than a month before anyone else. This is perhaps not too surprising though, as it was recently revealed that Android 5.0 Lollipop has only made its way to 1.6 percent of handsets.

The Sprint HTC One (M7) update arrived before many manufacturers even brought it to their 2014 flagships. If you're on Sprint and want Android Lollipop, check your software update page in the settings and get downloading.

Verizon HTC One (M7) Android update

The Verizon HTC One (M7) Android 5.0 Lollipop update has not been released yet. As soon as the Verizon HTC One (M7) update is available we'll update this article. The latest we've heard is that the Verizon update is scheduled for the end of March.

AT&T HTC One (M7) Android update

HTC One (M7) Android update in Europe

The Android 5.0 update for the HTC One has already rolled out in Europe. The update is just over 800 MB in size, so make sure you're on Wi-Fi before you hit that download button.

HTC One (M7) Developer Edition Android update

At the start of February, HTC developer @LlabTooFeR shared on Twitter that HTC One (M7) developer editions will also be getting the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, along with Sense 6.0. The update has been confirmed by others in the Twittersphere, so if you have a developer edition M7, hit Settings > About Phone and check for the software update.

HTC One (M7) Android 5.0.2 update

At the start of January, HTC developer @LlabTooFeR tweeted to say that Android 5.0.2 will be coming to the HTC One (M7), but that this might be the last major update that the device sees. The Android dev is often in-the-know regarding HTC updates and has just recently broken news about the HTC One (M8)'s update schedule. See the original M7 tweet below.

We've also caught a glimpse of what Android 5.0 Lollipop looks like on Sense UI via a short video. YouTube user Ray Chan uploaded the video late last week showing off the new quick settings menu, recent apps list and notifications shade. Check it out here:

Are you excited to get Android Lollipop on your handset? Or just sad to here that the HTC One (M7) might not go much further than 5.0.2?

It's your carrier who's at fault!! Not HTC.

HTC is a joke, I just heard they won't be updating the M7 to lollipop 5.1 instead it will be getting the 5.0 buggy version and that's that. Huh? I thought they were going to update it for 2 years? Last time I checked it's still March and 5.1 is already available the M7 should get this update and be forever stuck on a buggy OS. March 2013 to March 2015 that's 2 years with my math and it aint fuzzy math. Yeah I'll be upgrading my phone alright but it won't be to an HTC.

If HTC pushes an update that screws the camera up, permanently, like it did to the flag shup M7; I'll go nowhere near the M9. #lostfaithinHTC. I bought my M7 developers edition outright and I am extremely disappointed!

Google the camera issue for the M7 (which they managed to repeat on the M8, bravo!). This has nothing to do with software, it's a design flaw (overheating) that anyone will get at some point... You can fix it yourself, but it's quite a painful procedure and if you are not used to do those stuffs chances are you will break some components in your phone. If you are lucky to have it still under the 1yr warranty however HTC will fix it for you, at no charge.
A SHAME for HTC if you ask me!

Love their design but way too many flaws with the M7 (camera being the biggest one, slow, sometimes it gets stucked, keyboard gets unresponsive during texting, etc...). Don't like the fugly square camera on the M9 though.
As much as I hate going back to being one of those guy with an iPhone, I think I am going to go back to iOS - I had my share of buggy Android craps and other than the M7 and M8 none of the Android phone are appealing to me (a matter of personal tastes)...

Does the HTC One M7 with 5.0.2 support Android Runtime (ART)? Or is it using dalvik?

It's getting ridiculous that some manufacturers are getting lolipop on some of their older devices while those of us who spent loads of money on our 2014 flagships are still on the waiting list...
