While Apple is not expected to launch the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro by this September, leaks about these devices continue to pick up steam. The latest is an alleged schematic for the standard iPhone model that shows a redesigned camera. A set of renders also depicted what the schematics could look like in real life.

What's different in the Apple iPhone 16 design

Well-known leaker MajinBu shared the schematics of the iPhone 16 on X. The rear panel does boast the vertically aligned dual camera which was speculated since last year. While the lens arrangement mirrors the iPhone 12's, the rectangular camera island is noticeably changed to feature an elliptical shape that wraps around these cameras, making it resemble more like the Xperia 5 V that our colleague reviewed.

Meanwhile, the front panel shows a familiar Dynamic Island with noticeable bezels. The rumored Action Button and new “Capture” button are present as well, with the programmable key positioned on the left and the new camera-oriented key found on the right below the power key.

The aforementioned camera button could come in handy when shooting photos and videos using these iPhones. This also supports the report of Apple heavily emphasizing the cameras in this year's iPhone lineup.

Based on existing rumors, the purported redesigned camera is said to enable spatial video recording on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, a feature that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro (review) duo this year.

The same source also collaborated with user UpInTheZone to conceptualize these sketches, giving us a tangible view of the handset. For what it's worth, the iPhone 16 will be distinguishable from the iPhone 15 (review) primarily based on its updated camera position, although most of the dimensions should be retained according to an earlier rumor concerning the iPhone 16 sizes.

Beyond these, the iPhone 16 is tipped to feature a new A18 chipset, more RAM at 8 GB, and Wi-Fi 6E support. The cameras on the duo are likely to retain the 48 MP main shooter and a 12 MP ultra-wide. Lastly, the smaller iPhone 16 and the Plus version could keep the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes, respectively.

What do you think of the supposed redesigned back of the iPhone 16? Do you prefer this over the iPhone 15 or iPhone 14? Tell us your opinion in the comments.

I still remember how amazed I was when I first got hold of the Nokia 3210 back when I was a kid, and it was during that time I developed my love for technology, particularly for mobile phones. I started sharing my knowledge through writing in different blogs and forums back in Nokia Nseries era. I even make videos before where I put different phones side-by-side. Today, I'm still an avid enthusiast of smartphones, but my interests have evolved into smart devices and electric vehicles.
